What is LipiFlow?

LipiFlow is an FDA-approved highly effective treatment for the blockage of the oil glands of the eyelid which is a common cause of dry eyes in many patients. 

How is LipiFlow done?

LipiFlow is perfomred in the office. The patients sits on a reclining chair. A  numbing drop is places on the surface of the eye and the eyepiece is place around the eyelids. The eyepiece keeps the eyelids warms and gently massages them to open their oil glands. The procedure is painless and comfortable and takes about 12 minutes. With proper eyelid hygiene which is explained by your ophthalmologist, the effect of LipiFlow lasts for 1-3 years.

What are some side effects or risks of LipiFlow?

LipiFlow is generally a safe procedure but it should be avoided in certain eyelids conditions, eyelid or ocular infection or inflammation, recent trauma or surgery of the eyelid or the eye. Contact your ophthalmologist to makes sure if LipiFlow is safe for you.
